True I was once a
homophobe
raised on tales of men in
priestly robes
and by my own lack of
common sense
but then it is verily my
only defense
that when to such beliefs
I clung
I was as naïve as I was
young
but time set my ideas
straight
love is love and that’s
what’s great
but what to say of these gentlemen
and the poison in their
pens
when you’re as educated as
you’re old
what’s the excuse for a
heart so cold?

a grudge
