life is a bad pun but it’s best to agree

there is humor in the possibility

that there is so much that we can’t see

(and things could be worse for you and me)

so admittedly while I may not be very wise

here’s a poemful of distilled cheap advice

roll with the punches with a scrunched fist

wait till you can knock the scars off your list

for truly, the silver lining is made of steel

(and to the underdog belongs appeal)

there are more mugs of strength to be drunk from

and legendary heroes for us to yet become

so take things as they come, even if on your chin

grimace because it hurts; but do remember to grin

for poise is what laughs the burden light
and sometimes to accept, my friend, is to fight.
