scythe

He wielded a secret sword so great
It winked and whistled as it sliced through fate
And like pretty pointed shoes at a dance
It twirled merrily as it slashed past chance
It pierced mountains without a care
Plunged through rivers for just a dare
It cut down gnarled Goliaths neatly in half
With nary a grunt but many a laugh
It stabbed doubt in the chest just to be sure
And turned the blade in to see if it could endure
They begged to know if they could see his steel
If it was something they too could perchance feel
So he showed them a thin book; there fluttered one page
On which glistened one red word - courage.
