blaze

you were the truth in incandescent white
a stoic stubborn candle in a stormy night
and while you never took all the dark away
you were the sun that warmed my day.

afterword

to write a story glorious, while gasping for breath
with eagerness to tell that eager visitor - death
that as I turn presently into past tense, as I'm now died
I lived like a man who knows that he tried.

liar

her smile bewitches while below the skin
her skull guffaws a hideous grin.

rebellion

life is a bad pun but it’s best to agree
there is humor in the possibility
that there is so much that we can’t see
(and things could be worse for you and me)
so admittedly while I may not be very wise
here’s a poemful of distilled cheap advice
roll with the punches with a scrunched fist
wait till you can knock the scars off your list
for truly, the silver lining is made of steel
(and to the underdog belongs appeal)
there are more mugs of strength to be drunk from
and legendary heroes for us to yet become
so take things as they come, even if on your chin
grimace because it hurts; but do remember to grin
for poise is what laughs the burden light
and sometimes to accept, my friend, is to fight.
